PDF/X1a:2001 no longer working...
Hello all!
First post here... we are a commercial printer on the east coast.
We write .ps and distill using Acro. 7.0.7. (Mac OS 10.3.9 on a dual G5)
As of yesterday, on one workstation using the X1a settings I cannot generate a PDF.
Error Message is:
Adobe PDF Settings: /Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF/Settings/PDFX1a 2001.joboptions
%%[ Error: Helvetica not found. Font cannot be embedded. ]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: findfont ]%%

No fonts have been moved around, and Helvetica is not used in the doc.
If I try and distill with any other settings, all is good! Just the X1a setting won't work.
This is using any application - INDD, Quack, Freehand, etc...
Any ideas? TIA

Have you tried re-installing Helvetica ask the error message suggests?

Re: PDF/X1a:2001 no longer working...
Thanks for the reply Mike.
It turns out.. someone moved a font folder Distiller was looking for!
I put the folder back, and pointed Distiller to it. All is well.
Thanks again.
