PDFMAKER.dot ?
I emailed Abode support last year about this file and have heard nothing in reply...*sigh* perhaps I was too brusque in asking if they knew that it was completely broken...
Does anyone know of a better work around than "delete this file" from the Office startup directory? We wish to use the addin and the tools it provides in Word for our users.
However, due to its "functionality" it disables any other custom toolbars in use by Word. Thats right it switches itself on automatically and then switchs off any other custom toolbars that are present - which nukes 18+ months of painstaking work on my part and annoys our users no end.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: PDFMAKER.dot ?
Stuart,
Only suggestion I can make is to write your own Word Macros that:-
1. Disable this add-in and enable your own toolbars.
2. Disables your items and enables this add-in.
You could then ensure that the first was run when Word was opened and then run second when you wish to run PDFMaker and run first again when you have finished.

Re: PDFMAKER.dot ?
I can fire up Word and use PDFmaker to convert a Word document to PDF. From my point of view, PDFmaker is not "completely broken."
Regardless, there's no way to resolve the issue other than the solution provided by Arthur, or to simply not use PDFMaker and convert your documents by printing to the Adobe PDF printer instead.
