PDFs print solid black text at 92%K-HELP!
I posted a message yesterday that went unanswered. I searched thru the forum for similar threads and saw a few who had similar problems. I've tried all of the suggestions in the threads to get the PDFs to print 100% K, still no luck. I've turned ID color mgmt off, printed to PS and PDF, and also export to PDF. NOTHING WORKS! I've got a 600+ page book at the printers and the PDF files need to be replaced. I'm not using rich black, so don't see the problemo. Please help fast! (IDCS2, Mac X10.4) Thanks, Greg J.

I have not followed the thread so forgive if I overlap anyone.....did you check that the original file was actually in a plain black? Not 'auto' or black c or any variant......

Re: PDFs print solid black text at 92%K-HELP!
Yes, only plain black was used. There has to be a setting somewhere I've missed. When I enlarge the PDFs 6400% in Acrobat Pro, there is no screen on the black either. I've searched the threads in Acrobat, but haven't found anything related yet...

Re: PDFs print solid black text at 92%K-HELP!
Have you selected 'output all blacks accurately' in both Illustrator and ID prefs 'appearance of black'?
(BTW, I find it mildly amusing that someone would want to display or print something inaccurately.)
It may help. Let us know.

Re: PDFs print solid black text at 92%K-HELP!
Have you actually confirmed that the black is 92%?
Open it in Acrobat Pro, and zoom way in on the text. Now use the output
preview to check it. If it's showing as 100% the printer is doing
something wrong.

Re: PDFs print solid black text at 92%K-HELP!
The output preview in Acrobat shows it at 91%, but the image on screen looks solid black. When I print separation only, not composite, the black is solid.

Greg, if you are setting your color to composite gray then that's the problem. See the 30-34 of this thread:
