Default Pen and Ink, Illustrator 8.01

I recently switched from Win 98 to XP. I find the hatch effects filter grayed out now. Digging into the folders, I found it where it should be, under Program Files/Adobe/Illustrator 8.0/Plug-ins/Illustrator Filters/Pen and Ink. Does anyone know what the problem is?

    William,

Did you install XP then Illustrator clean, or did you use the Windows upgrade process?

If the latter, you might try a reinstall of Illustrator.

Aside from that, the hatch effects filter will be grayed out until you select a vector object. The photo crosshatch filter will be grayed out until you select a raster image object. I believe that is normal behavior.
