Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
I have come across a problem when changing the stroke weight of a previously drawn line using the line tool or open path using the pen tool.
If a draw a straight line at an angle of say, 45 degrees with a stroke of 1pt, then change the stroke to 20pt the dimension of the line changes - it becomes smaller. The same thing happens with the pen tool when drawing an open path. Any ideas? It does not happen in Illustrator 10.03. I have tried copying a line from Illustrator as well but the same thing happens. I am using Indesign 2.02 on Windows 2000/XP.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
Paul,
if you observe the rectangle bounding box (your line is always inscribed at), you will see why this happens.

Re: Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
Do you have "Dimensions Include Stroke Weight" on or off? It's on the Transform Palette drop-down.

Re: Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
Thanks Dave and George
I have tried the option "Dimensions Include Stroke Weight" on and off without any success.
If I perform the same process via Indesign CS, as the stroke weight increases the rectangular bounding box compensates by enlarging, this allows the points of the line or path to stay in the same position. I think it is a problem within Indesign 2.02.

Re: Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
Doesn't it (v2.0.2) cause the vector to grow inward as you increase the stroke weight, versus out from the centerline in version CS?

Re: Pen and Line Tools - issues when changing the stroke weight
In ID2.x under Stroke -> Weight changes Bounding Box, you do what you asked, if that is checked. Otherwise the line length depends on stroke weight (if at an angle different than 0 or 90 degrees) since it's always inscribed in the bounding box.
