    Default "Pending remote request". What is the application doing?

    Hi Group!

    I am converting on the Oracle Database to DB2. I got my tables created
    and rows retrieved using Migration Tool Kit. Initially I created the
    DB2 DB in a non-partitioned environment. Now I have created the
    Database with two logical nodes.

    I have exported the data using db2move from the single partition DB
    and Now I want to import it on the Multi Partitioned DB.

    I have droped all the FKs from thsese tables. (I used MTK to
    drop/create the FK).

    The import went fine for the first few minutes and imported some 10
    tables. Now it seems it is struck. (I am not sure whether it is doing
    anything or not)

    Most of the time, it has the status of "Pending remote request"

    % ps -auxw | grep db2move
    test 22240 0.1 1.0 26000 10956 pts/1 S 16:37 0:09 db2move
    db2c IMPORT -io REPLACE -l /u02/tmp_pk/LOB

    % db2 list applications show detail

    Auth Id Application Name Appl.
    Application Id Seq# Number of Coordinating DB
    Coordinator Status Status Change Time
    DB Name DB Path
    Handle
    Agents partition number pid/thread
    ------------------------------ -------------------- ----------
    ------------------------------ ---- ---------- ----------------
    --------------- ------------------------------
    -------------------------- -------- --------------------
    ...
    TEST db2move 174
    *N0.db2inst1.05AE04233715 002a 3 0 32287
    Pending remote request Not Collected
    DB2C /u02/database/db2inst1/NODE0000/SQL00001/
    ...

    % db2 get snapshot for application agentid 174 | more

    Application Snapshot

    Application handle = 174
    Application status = Pending remote request

    ...
    ...
    Number of SQL requests since last commit = 11660
    Commit statements = 41
    Rollback statements = 0
    Dynamic SQL statements attempted = 54832
    Static SQL statements attempted = 22070
    Failed statement operations = 10872
    Select SQL statements executed = 5684
    Update/Insert/Delete statements executed = 54347
    DDL statements executed = 0
    Internal automatic rebinds = 0
    Internal rows deleted = 0
    Internal rows inserted = 0
    Internal rows updated = 0
    Internal commits = 1
    Internal rollbacks = 0
    Internal rollbacks due to deadlock = 0
    Binds/precompiles attempted = 0
    Rows deleted = 0
    Rows inserted = 28367
    Rows updated = 0
    Rows selected = 5663
    Rows read = 27764
    Rows written = 38153

    For almost an hour the rows written stays the same.

    Now,

    How do I determine whether it is doing anything or its in a loop? [I
    don't see, the process taking much CPU. So, I am not sure wther it is
    in a loop]

    In Oracle there are many v$ views and events to see what is exactly
    happening. What DB2 table functions can be used in this scenario,if
    any, to determine what is the process exactly doing?

    thanks,
    Prince Guest

    Prince,

    if you will see what happen on both partitions you have to do:
    db2 list applications show detail global or
    db2 list applications show detail at dbpartitionnum #

    With Version 8.1 you have a lot of table functions lfor applications like:

    -- Application:
    -- To capture a snapshot of application information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_APPL( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_APPL
    ;

    -- To capture a snapshot of application identification information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_APPL_INFO( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_APPL_INFO
    ;

    -- To capture a snapshot of lock wait information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_LOCKWAIT( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_LOCKWAIT
    ;

    -- To capture a snapshot of statement information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_STATEMENT( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_STATEMENT
    ;

    -- To capture a snapshot of agent information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_AGENT( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_AGENT
    ;

    -- To capture a snapshot of subsection information:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE( SNAPSHOT_SUBSECT( '', -2 )) as SNAPSHOT_SUBSECT
    ;
