Pentax cameras - Photography

Hi all, One question, I have an MZ-50 but want to be able to use some older K mount lenses and extension tubes that I have for some macro work.(I also would like to have a non auto light meter (one i can set the aperture and the shutter speed myself BUT retain some auto presets for point and shoot) ) I have done a little research and the MZ-5n seems like a good trade up. I was wondering if this is a good idea or is there a better pentax than the MZ-5n. Thanks for your input, Andrew...

MZ-3 and MZ-5n are almost identical. Both a good. If you want to buy my MZ-3
I would be interested in an offer

Try the Zx-L(MZ-6) more features than the MZ-5n but less than it in price.
Lower build quality similar if not better than the mz-50. Plus itv will
    meter old k mount lenses.
With the AF360GZ flash it will hi sync to 1/4000sec.

All Pentax film cameras mount K lenses.

I may be misundestanding what you are saying but I do know this. Most
all of the Pentax line of cameras will take all the lenses Pentax
offers. The only difference is that If you use a K-mount lens on your
MZ-50 (Same as the ZX-50 here in the states) you will be able to do
everything but the auto functions. The only way you can keep the auto
functions is the use an Auto lens. Switching to the MZ-5n will be
pretty much the same. You can use the K-mount lenses, but you loose
    the auto functions.

I personally use the ZX-7 (MZ-7). The MZ-5n is similar to mine with a
couple extra features. My ZX-7 will do a lot of macro work and I have
the ability to set it to a variaty of auto or manual functions. I use
my camera for everything from stock photos all the way up to
commercial product shots. I love it. In my opinion, if you want to
upgrade, the MZ-5n will be a good way to go for you though.

I agree, most pentax cameras work with the K mount. But the MZ-50 (&
MZ-30) apparently doesn't have the aperture coupling to meter correctly with
    old
K mount lenses. .so....I would like to upgrade...

I'm Claudio from Rome. I have got the same camera and the same problem. I
can't use old K-lenses. In manual (and even in AP and SP) use I can't have
the right exposure. But if you try with a KA (manual) lens you can do all
    but the autofocus.

I'm thinking to buy a Mz-5n because it has the open-control on the lenses
and not on the body like the mz50

    Beg me for my english
