Performance tunning in SQL Server 7.0 - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Hello, In SQL Server 7.0, we are having a stored procedure to select the records and insert into another temporary table. In SQL server, there are two query formats available. 1. INSERT......SELECT 2. SELECT....... INTO Which one is performance wise good? In SQL Server 7.0, we are having a stored procedure to select the records from multiple tables. Which one is better to use - Temporary table or View? Thanks Ebron...

If I remember good there were discussions about perfromance issue of this
    kind of questions
I think Itzik Ben-Gan participated and by checking both statements so the
second one had better perfomance issue.

Again you can check it by yourself and see what is happened

    Ebron,

when it comes to creating the temp table and inserting the rows, then
SELECT INTO is fastest, because this is a nonlogged operation.

As for views vs temporary tables: this is not really a correct
comparison. Basically this is comparing temporary tables with permanent
tables. There is no performance difference between them, provided they
    have the same indexes.

    Hope this helps,
