Performanceproblem with PowerMc G4 1Ghz Dual - Mac Applications & Software

Hi My Problem: the performance of my g4 powermac after working a few hours, gets very slow. Closing some apps doesn't make it better.     Yes, I've seen this -- on OS 9. It's important to tell what version of
    the OS you are using. If it's OS 9, then this is probably a
    memory-management problem. Rebooting will fix it for another few hours.
    Upgrading to OS X will fix it permanently.

    If it is OS X, then I don't know the cause.

    I also have a Dual 1 GHz w/ 1.25 GB RAM nad see the same thing. Even in
    OS X there are programs that can leak memory and bog down the system.
    Two that I've experienced were iView Media Pro v1.5.x and BTV Pro v5.x.
    As usual, if I try running too many Office X components, everything
    starts to crawl. I've heard of a few others. Use something like top to
    see what is consuming resources when the machine bogs down.
