    Default Perpindicular Text

I am trying to wrap text around a circle but have the text come out perpendicular to that circle instead of folling the path of the circle. Not sure how to do this. Any suggestions.

    Thank you,

Open the Type on a Path Options dialog and choose the appropriate setting. It's on the Type menu.

    Dave,

I went through the various type dialogues including character, type and transform without any luck. I can only get the type to flow around the circumference of the circle.

    Any suggestions.

We're talking text on a path, right? Not text wrap?

Did you go to the dialog I mentioned -- you don't mention it in your leist?

    Dave,

I tried the "Path Type Options", not sure if this is what you were referring to, without any luck which included: Effect, Align, Spacing, Flip and To Path. I am trying to get the text at a 90 degree angle to the circle similar to this -|.

    Any other suggestions

    Similar to what?

Can you post a picture? I have only the vaguest idea what you're trying to achieve.

Is the text on a path or is it just set and wrapping around the space occupied by the circle?

Do you understand the difference between those two and if so, which one are we talking about?

Is your problem that you don't know how to get the text on the path? Or that you don't know how to adjust it after it is there?

    Like this:

if so, this is called type on a path and you use the type on a path tool (behind the text tool, just click on the text tool and hold it down, then choose the other tool).

You can read all about it in the Help system (or User Guide) under Type on a Path.

    Dave,

How did you insert the image. Once I figure out how to add an image I will provide a picture of what I am trying to do.

    Thanks.

To insert an image you must first post it on a web site somewhere. Then you can either just post a link to it (preferred if it is a large image) or use and img src tag.

Do you intend to have the exact same text in each line?

When I look at that I think...perfect for Illustrator. It gives you the ability to rotate and duplicate an object around the center point. Rotate it once at the correct angle, then Transform Again (Cmd-D). Definitely easier there than in InDesign which, while it has path tools, is not a drawing program.

I think you'd have to create each line of text as an inline frame and
then put it on a path that way. I'm not even sure that would work.

The text will be different in each line. I guess I will try illustrator, but I am not very familiar with that program.

Thanks for all of the input.

Bob's suggestion of putting each in an inline frame is certainly a way to go.

    Here's Bob's suggestion in action:

I put a space between each inline graphic and force justified the line. To get the two end elements to separate correctly, I had to manually insert margin indents.
