personalised shortcuts won't stay as default

every time i relaunch illustrator the settings for shortcuts will go back to the illustrator factory settings. is there any way to have my personalised settings for every document and all the time? same problem with the preferences.
also i realized that it is impossible to create a shortcut for: selection same color or selection same border (you can create the shortcut but it won't work). in illustrator 9 i solved this problem by creating a script, but this won't work in illustrator 10. does anyone know what i could do? as i am talking about actions (scripts) when i include the action"embedding image" into a script it won't work also. is there a solution? i'm sorry, a lot of questions here, but all this really slows down my work and i couldn't find anything on this forum.

continued looking in this forum and found that trashing the preferences could help. doesn't though for me. after setting the preferences the way i wish, leaving illustrator and relaunching it again, some of my setting would go back to default, after leaving and relauching a second time all of the settings go back to default.

Try setting your preferences without a document open. Sometimes when a document is open the preferences will be set for that document only.

thanks for the answer. but this didn't help either. finally i reinstalled illustrator 10 and had it updated to 10.3 and now everything works just fine!!!
