Ok Done that but no support for 16bit PGB Images - Does anyone know of any other sources for these I have been told 16bit images are suppoted in PGM's?

There are no standards for 16 bit data in PBM images, last time I checked.
There were some proposals (all conflicting) but none were finalized.
