    Default Phantom keylines when printing

    Hello,

    I'm using ID 2.02 on Win2000 and printing to a Lexmark Optra S 1650 (non-PostScript).

I have a 90+ page document which uses a single master page that contains some grey boxes and grey lines. The individual pages also contain light grey drop caps under the first letter.

When I print this doc, about half of the pages come out with keylines around the grey boxes and even around the lines (which themselves are actually lines, not boxes). As well, some -- but not all -- of the drop caps on these pages come out with keylines around them, which is very odd to me considering these were all copied from the same library item.

Does this sound like a printer driver problem? I've gone over the pages with a fine-tooth comb and cannot find any keylines that have inadvertently been placed on the master page items or drop caps.

    TIA,

    Cheryl

Default Re: Phantom keylines when printing

You say you are using 2.02. Did you install the 2.0.1 patch before patching
to 2.0.2? This problem of phantom keylines on non-postscript printers was a
bug in 2.0 and was fixed with the 2.0.1 patch. I didn't think it was
possible to install 2.0.2 unless 2.0.1 was installed already, but I could be
    wrong there.

If you didn't install 2.0.1 I would doubt you could install it with 2.0.2 in
place, and you might need to reinstall InDesign completely and then add the
    patches in sequence.

Or you could just upgrade to CS, which would be a whole lot better idea.

As an experiment, try exporting to PDF and printing that.
