Photo Printers good for Text? - Photography

I want to replace my Lexmark Z42. It's a great multipurpose printer, and EXTREMELY reliable. But as a photo printer, it is merely adequate. I am very attracted to the Canon i950. However, all the reviews I've read concentrate on its photo capabilities which sound awesome. But I need a RELIABLE printer that can also print my resume, make banners in Printshop, print term papers, etc. And I don't have the room to accommodate 2 printers. Is the i950 the printer for me? If not, can you suggest a reasonable compromise that has most of the features of the i950? ...

Most all "Inkjet" photo printers do an excellent job of printing text. So
much so, it's a given, and usually not discussed much. The Canon i950
    prints excellent text!

Why print photos at home? There are places where you get 4"x6"
prints on photographic paper for under 25 cents each, and 8"x10"
prints for under $2 each. For printing text, nothing beats a laser
printer for print quality and low cost per page.
