Photo Shop 7.01 not saving files... closing program

Is anyone aware of any compatibality issues using PS 7.01 on a Dell Optiplex 8250 running Windows XP. My program continuously shuts down, refuses to save files, only opens tif files on the second try and saves a file but not the size created and minus the graphic. There is no detectable virus or worm on my machine.... and i uninstalled and reinstalled and upgraded from 7.0 to 7.01. Does anyone have any insight into where I might be going wrong?????? I'd appreciate any input!

There were some issues with older Optiplex systems (but these issues
were resolved around 2 years ago to the best of my knowledge. However
is you do a search of the FAQ's from around 2 years ago, you might
unearth something.

thank you... i'll look into it, for a number of reasons... especially since this is a brand new system!

Well, whenever I hear "Dell" and "Problem" that's the first thing I think of, and Mathias had posted some XP patch info so I figured <shrug>.

And yeah, no edit button... sigh.
