Photoshop 6 conflicts with Norton's Anti-Spam 2004 - Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, CS2 & CS3

(2nd try.)After installing NA-S, which worked beautifully, working in Photoshop 6 5-10 minutes would crash consistently. Up would come "Photoshop caused an invalid page fault in......". Computer had to be shut off only with the power button, followed by a system scan when opened again. Symantec says there is no known conflict with Photoshop. No conflict indicators appeared in Device Manager. The computer (Dell Dimension) registry was put back 2 days. NA-S has been uninstalled and Photoshop is working just fine. How do I get both programs to work without interference? Is there other anti-spam software that Photoshop likes? Thanks much............MM...

I think you've got that backwards.

Something in Norton Anti-Spam is causing problems with Photoshop.

This would have to be a Symantec bug, and only they can fix it.

    Hi Marie,

I'm not familiar with Norton Anti-Spam 2004, but if it is anything like what is in 2003, I never cared for their approach. But, that's beside the point. What I can tell you is that McAfee SpamKiller works quite well for me and has never caused problems with any other application on my system, inclusive of Photoshop.

I selected the Norton's program because I thought it would be compatible with their Anti-Virus software used on the computer.

Would McAfee's SpamKiller and Norton's Anti-Virus "like" each other? I definitely want to kill the garbage I'm getting in email.

    I appreciate the suggestions..............MM

OK--a new re-install seems to working fine--no conflicts with Photoshop open and working for quite a while.

Apparently it was a bad install------and I'll keep fingers crossed..
    Thanks, MM

    Marie,

Although you've got things working now...congrats...yes, McAfee SpamKiller and Norton AntiVirus will live happily together, as that is my own configuration.

    Regards,
