Default Photoshop 7 error with multiple monitors

I have the Adobe: Publishing Collection: Education Version (what I use for my college work) and just recently Photoshop has failed on me.

It started when I recently bought two new monitors, ViewSonic UltraBrite A90f+ . The problem started when I started Photoshop, when I selected "new"... Photoshop froze. But not just froze, but it worked with basic functions, such as minimize and maximize, I could press buttons that have menues and the menues would pop up. But no buttons or options would work. So I fixed the problem by selecting the left monitor as the primary monitor and the start bar on the left. As long as the program was on the right side, the program would work, but in doing so, the "save for web" would stop working and I could not use that option.

So in trying to fix the problem, I have uninstalled Photoshop (the only program so far effected) several times, I have used system restore several different times yet the problem was never fixed, in fact... the same settings and everything stayed the same, no matter what I did. I have also scanned my computer for errors, defragged the hard drives, reinstalled the monitors, and scanned the computer for viruses.

The two other options which I have not done yet are uninstall all adobe products, then reinstall and see if that would then work. Or option 2, Wipe the C: hard drive and reinstall Windows and start from scratch.... But that is one option I would perfer not to do, unless absolutely necessary.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Uninstall and re-install Photoshop 7, make sure you update to 7.01. This would be my first step.

Also make sure you delete the preferences file so that you start over with a totally clean slate.

Uninstalling does not get rid of the preferences file--you have to dig down into Docs&Settings to find it and rid yourself of it.
