Photoshop 8 - Camera RAW plug-in?
It looks like Photoshop 8 is near, has anyone heard any rumors of whether the separate Camera RAW plug-in functionality will be included as part of the updated application?

I remember reading somewhere (when the RAW plugin first came out) that it would be included in future versions.

Yes you are right.
Adobe presented at an early morning demonstration at last years Photo East (Oct.30/02)
this Raw plug in and a new very clever Extraction Tool.
It was said that these will be included in future versions.
