Photoshop changes my file size. - Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, CS2 & CS3

First timer here, having some issues today. I'm hoping someone can help me. I am using Photoshop 6.0 on a PC. I have a large file 7" x 70" 300 dpi. I have saved it as a tiff. I want to open up the image in Quark and print it. When I choose "get picture" in Quark, it now tells me that my image is .4" x 4" and 5250 dpi. It seems to be file size dilema - sort of. If I create a smaller file 3.5" x 35" and 150 dpi, it works, but anything bigger doesn't. However ...

Default Photoshop changes my file size.

However old images that are just as large as the original, work fine. Just nothing that I've opened and resaved today.

This is so frustrating. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

From what you describe, the file size is not changing: 70" at 300 dpi is
21,000 pixels. 4" at 5250 dpi is also 21,000 pixels. Just change the dpi
setting back to 300 (without resampling) and you will get the old dimensions
    back.

Also, from what you describe it sounds like it is Quark, not Photoshop, that
is changing things... why, then, the title of your posting?

    Rafael

This is a doented QuarkXpress bug.

Anything over 48" will come in reduced.

As Rafael suggests, the pixel count is not changed and will print out fine, of course the preview in QXP once you scale it up 1750% to bring 4 back to 70 will be totally useless, unless you pull an enhanced preview.

I would open it in PS and resize it to 35" 600ppi then scale it back up 200% in QXP, which won't look so bad even without an enhanced preview.

Or you could always build the entire layout at half size to be printed out at 200%...

I don't believe ID has this problem <g>

    Thanks for your help.

I didn't know it was a Quark issue - it seemed like a Photoshop one to me since I wasn't having any problems with other files that were just as large that I had previously worked on.

    What a pain.

    Thanks.
