Photoshop files appear blurry in PDF
Is there any reason why Photoshop files that are placed in Quark would appear blurry in the written PDf - no matter what setting is used...? Placed Illustrator EPS files appear fine.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Photoshop files appear blurry in PDF
There could be several reasons: First, what resolution are the Photoshop images? They could be too low-res.
Also, Quark (like InDesign) has a setting for automatically downsampling images at print time. I don't recall what it's called, but you may well have it turned on? It's been too long since I've been in the Quark Print dialog (thank God!) so I don't remember what it's called.
The third possibility is how you created the PDF. What method did you use? What settings did you use? Images can be downsampled in the process of creating the PDF file.

Re: Photoshop files appear blurry in PDF
Hi Steve,
Thank you so much for the reply. The images were 300 dpi, and no downsampling was occuring through Acrobat, but I found that the "Full Resolution Tiff Output" box was unchecked in Quark's print dialog box (yes, I know InDesign is superior, etc. etc.). Problem solved! Thanks again for the nudge in the right direction.
