    Default Photoshop Freezes at launch

I recently reformated my HD for OS X and had to re-install everything. After using OS X for a while I decided to switch back to OS9.2.2

Under OS 9.2.2 Photoshop and Illustrator freeze when I try to start them up. I also have ATM 4.6.2

Since both apps freeze, it leads me to believe I am missing something.

    Terence,

Native OS 9.2.2 or Classic emulation? Did you trash the preferences for both applications? Where/how are these applications installed?

    Native OS 9.2.2

Did not trash preferences. When I reformatted the HD preferences were deleted. Have not successfully launched Photoshop since the reformat, re-install.

The installer disk automatically puts them in the Applications folder.

Does it seem odd to you that both applications are having the same error? It makes me think that the error is missing extensions, or extension conflicts.

    Terence,

I run a similar setup without the hassles you are experiencing. Trash the preferences. Run Disk Warrior to check for other problems. Rebuild the desktop. See what happens.

BTW, ATM 4.6.2 will only run under native OS 9.x and Classic (if Light, not Deluxe).

[Me] I like to NOT use 3rd-party utilities on my installs (unless Apple's FirstAid can't fix the problem)...especially on a new reformat/install (that shouldn't have disk problems anyway). Have you rebuilt the DeskTop?

    g,

Over the years, although fastidious about proper installations on a variety of Macs, I almost always find some corruption pops up after major system changes or installations. Maybe it's me.

BTW, thanks for the links to your help pages.

Ok background. Mac user since 6.0.4. Adobe user since version 1. I am very familiar with the standard solutions. What I am looking for is an idosycrancy.

From a reformat of the harddrive with the Apple utilities and then an install from the Adobe disks it freezes.

Whats crazy with all the same disks it used to work before I upgraded to OS X. Both PS and AI have the same problem, IR does not.

Ive run it through Disk FirstAid, Nortons, rebuilt, optimized and have gone through just about every basic repair.

Ok in the meantime I loaded up a previous System from a back up. Now PS works. So something is either missing or conflicting.
