Pink type with copy and paste

Default Pink type with copy and paste

We are getting pink highlighting when copying and pasting text from
either one place in an InDesign document to another place in the same
document or copying from one document to another new or different
InDesign document. One of the fonts with the problem is Meta Book. When
copying the text frame, the new pink highlighted text reads with the
font family in brackets [Meta Book] and the font weight in brackets
[Medium]. Or sometimes the Font family is NOT in brackets and the font
weight is [Medium]. Not only is it a problem that the font is changing,
but the font does not exist with a Medium weight at all.

The only way we can fix this problem currently is by using Find Font
and replacing every instance of the [Medium] font with the correct
font. We fix this multiple times in multiple documents.

We have been experiencing the same problem since Adobe InDesign CS and
I have seen other postings of people experiencing the same problem -
    but no solutions so far.

Currently, we are using Adobe InDesign CS2 on Mac OS X - 10.4.5. We
have experienced this problem more frequently once upgrading to
    InDesign CS2.

We were using Suitcase Fusion 12.0 but in an attempt to fix the
problem, deleted Fusion and re-installed Extensis Suitcase X1.

Any suggestions on how to prevent this problem would be welcomed. Thank
    you.

It sounds like you either have a missing font in a paragraph style, or
a duplicate font. Since you installed Fusion, I'm assuming you checked
for duplicates. So go through the paragraph styles in the document, and
change the font settings for it. There's a good chance that there were
duplicates originally, and removing one started the problem. But if
that's the case, you'll be in much better shape.

Thanks for your input. I agree with you and think the problem is
related to duplicate fonts. We did have two versions of Meta Book.
However, another computer on the same network with the EXACT same fonts
(including both Meta Book fonts) did NOT have the copy/paste problem.
Are there any other ways to prevent this problem from happening?
Sometimes, advertisers send different versions of fonts with their ads
and both versions need to be loaded at the same time. We still should
be able to work in InDesign without this copy/paste problem. The
problem does not occur in any other applications. Is the problem
related to the way InDesign is looking at the fonts?
