Pissed at Illustrator!...keeps freezing

While working w/ Illustrator using the pen tool or clicking on palette options or even clicking on my work area it freezes up!!!...or all of a sudden the entire program would close up!....

I appriciate any ideas on why this is happening..Thanks!

Therefore the best guess anyone could possible make is 'it's broken'...

I have Illustartor 10,
512Ram,
Nvida 64mb card,
2.4 Pentium 4,
Windows XP home
60 gig hraddrive

Ok theres what I have...any other things you can tell me why its freez'in all of a sudden and then the entire program just quits out?..

You know I originally had that problem untill I purchased 2 80 gig drives and striped them...since then the program has been working tip top, So your problem could be because you might be using the same scratch disk as the program is installed on

Start by deleting your aiprefs file - Details in the FAQ at the top of this
forum's Topic List

You could also try, as a diagnostic, turning down hardware acceleration to
zero. If that helps it indicates that you need a video driver update.

Ok, I deleted the "AIprefs" folder as told, still having the same problem..

It happend when I select an object then I double click on the color selector square then select my color then after that it freezes up on me so i cant do anyhting...then sometimes the entire program quits..

This is a weird problem or what?...

No I havent tried that...I never heard of that function..can you tell me how to do that????...

Greg,

Right Click on your Desktop. Select Properties>Settings>Advanced.

You should see a 'Troubleshooting' tab there that gives access to the
Hardware Acceleration slider

I dont think thats exactly my problem I am having that you suggested to do...

everything else in illustrator works ok except when i cjose a color from double clicking on the tool bar color box thats the only time it freezes on me...everything else SO far works normal..

I'm suggesting that step as a DIAGNOSTIC. Please try it and see if it helps.
If it does, you need an updated video driver.
