Pixelated fonts
I pasted some text from MSWord into a frame and the fonts look extremely pixelated. I think the frame is in some sort of graphic mode. How do I change it to normal text?

Re: Pixelated fonts

As soon as I read that far I started thinking that maybe you are pasting WordArt or something that isn't actual text. Please let me know if the text you are pasting is actually text. If you aren't sure, try pasting into notepad then paste it into ID.

Re: Pixelated fonts
At first I thought Yes it is.... but then I noticed that it had a table in it. So it is not 'entirely' text. What does InDesign do when tables are present while you cut and paste? Is there a work around?

Re: Pixelated fonts
It turns them into InDesign tables.

Re: Pixelated fonts
It did more than that. The fonts and table in the frame are extremely jagged or pixelated and the Type Tool doesn't work in it.

Re: Pixelated fonts
How about placing instead of paste, what does that do? You should try using the "Place" command found under the "File" menu.
Maybe you just need to change the display settings.
With the selection tool selected, right click on the table and choose, Display performance>High quality display.
Note: This is only a screen preview setting and will not make a difference in your final output.
You can also try printing a hard copy to see if this is only happening on your screen preview image.

Re: Pixelated fonts
When you paste do you have the Text tool selected?
In InDesign 2 when you paste text from Word with Selection tool selected you'll paste a picture of that text.

Re: Pixelated fonts
I didn't seem to matter whether the text tool was chosen or the the selection tool. I tried placing the text instead of pasting it and that worked. Thanks for the help all of you!

So definitely you weren't placing any text, but a low resolution image of that (probably 72 dpi) through the clipboard, thus "The fonts and table in the frame are extremely jagged or pixelated and the Type Tool doesn't work in it."
