Placed PDF of ad, CMYK, but 3 spot colors show up...how to remove?

If the color is 100 on all four plates that's just the all too common
mistake of using registration instead of black.

Yeah, but for some reason alot of the ads I get, people design them in Illustrator and type with 4 color black. I work with a girl who is notorious for doing all her ads in Illustrator and typing with 4 color black.

You need to talk to these people and explain the difference between
registration and black...or start charging them to fix them.

hi, I use to face the same kind of problem in a Ad, so normally what we do is, we try opening the Pdf directly in illustrator and convert the spot to CMYK, if you dont have a spot color present in the AD, Select all unused, in your swatch and delete it, could also try using Filters>color>convert to CMYK...

In the abscence of any plug ins (Pitstop/ Quite a box of tricks / Heidelberg Color Editor etc) Acrobat7 Tools>Print Production>Convert colours CAN get rid of rogue spot colours in pdfs. You have to Save the file and re-open it for the separaions in "Output Preview" to update
