Placing 2nd object apart from 1st object accurately
A.I. 10
Is there a another way to place 2 similar objects N inches apart then showing the ruler and grid and dragging the 2nd object along the horizontal until I see in the Options window - Info section the X value is incremented to my desired value from the 1st object?
For ex. if I want to place 2 circles exactly 1.32 inches apart along the horizontal.
O<--1.32 inches-->0

Another way:
Use the transform pallet, take note of the X position of the first object. Select the 2nd object. In the X position box, put the X value of the first object +1.32 and Illustrator will do the math for you.
For instance, first object has an X=1.57 for the X of the second object put "1.57+1.32"

OK then: Draw a rectangle 1.32" wide, put it between objects, set spacing option in align palette to "0", select all, click once more on the rectangle, distribute spacing, delete rectangle.

Re: Placing 2nd object apart from 1st object accurately
Or, since you want identical objects, just:
Make object, copy it on the same spot, (Ctrl+C+F), and add the desired X and Y distances in the Transform palette; in this case just add +1.32 after the X value (do not delete it).

Jacob, I think he said "similar objects", not identical.

Bert, you are right: he did. And I may have been wrong about what he meant, so of course I should have said if instead of since.
Someone certainly reads the fourth post; and the topic text (not everyone does).

Yep. cool. I was going to do some camping on the 12th. and was hoping to capture some shootin' stars on film.
Of course that'll take me around to Friday the 13th, but hopefully if a meterorite hits near me, it will fall on a hockey mask wearing psycho, and not on me.
