Default Placing a Cropped PDF in InDesign

When cropping a PDF and placing that same PDF in InDesign, it still retains all information, even though you only want part of the PDF. Any Ideas or suggestions?

That's the way it works. A PDF cropped in Acrobat really only masks the
cropped data, it doesn't delete it.

You can save as eps from Acrobat and distill a new pdf. (or just place the eps)

The caveat is the image must pass through eps and distiller thus being affected by the processes.

    Thanks Bob & John.
I had a feeling that might be the case. We just switched over from Quark to InDesign, and had never seen this before, and it never hurts to ask questions.

    Thanks Again.

You can place the pdf based upon a desired crop to box though. While the information is still within the pdf, only the crop to area designated is shown and used in InDesign.

I think John is right on this. If it's been cropped in Acrobat, you ought to be able to honor that cropping by turning on "Show Import Options" in the InDesign Place dialog box, and then select "Crop" in the PDF Import Options dialog box.
