placing a tiff with transparent background into illustrator probs
I have a tiff, it is a white rose on a none background.
I was working on illustrator 9 the other day and was able to make an illustrator doc where I pulled over the tiff and it came with no background, ie I was then able to put a tint behind it. Now I'm working with Ill CS and each time I pull over the tiff it comes with a white background so I just end up with a completely white square! I've tried changing the original tiff from CYMK to RGB and back again, no luck. I really need it to come over with none background, what am I doing wrong??? Why did it work before and not now???
Any info gladly received.

Re: placing a tiff with transparent background into illustrator probs
AI any version does not support layered tiffs. So it was not a tiff you brought into AI 9 it was either a .psd file or and eps with a clipping path.

Re: placing a tiff with transparent background into illustrator probs
In either case, I would suggest opening the file in Photoshop, and saving it as a native .PSD file -- which you can then place into Illustrator. The transparency will display correctly.
