Placing EPS or images in Ai

Has anyone else experienced this one?...Go to "place" and image ...now before actually selecting the image to place ...hit cancel instead,,,INSTANT CRASH !

This happened sporadically in AI10.0.3 for some but not all users; seems not to occur in CS.

I have the same problem. IL 10 worked fine until I installed CS. Then the application shutdowns began as you described. I just spent over an hour with Adobe on the phone and they could not resolve the problem. They are going to further investigate the issue. I may hear from them in 2 or 3 days. If they find a solution I will post it here.

I did fix the problem once by dumping everything associated with adobe programs and reinstalling IL 10. It worked fine until I again installed CS. I have not been able to fix it the same way since. Adobe believes there is a system error of some kind at the root of the problem and suggests doing a clean install on the system.
