Default Placing EPS vs. AI into Indesign 2.0

After placing .eps files (created in Illustrator) into Indesign 2.0 there is a slight cropping of the edge of the graphic. And when placing the same image saved as a native .AI file there is no cropping.

Does anyone know why .eps files have this cropping and the .AI files do not?

    thanks for any replies,

Illustrator issue. It doesn't read the bounding box properly.

You're better off with AI files anyway.

    > Why?

Well for one, the bounding box problem goes away. And transparency used
isn't flattened. And why save two files when one will do?

There's no benefit that I can think of to EPS files from Illustrator.

Are .AI files just as easy for you Draw users, as .eps files? I'm thinking
..eps is more widely compatible, but that's just an assumption.

From CorelDRAW I save as EPS, but CD EPS files don't have the same
annoying bounding box problem that Illy EPS files do.

In any event, I find myself using Illustrator more and more these days.

As a workaround you can always draw a rectangle around your art with no fill and stroke. I use this method when pasting Illustrator stuff into Photoshop where this cropping also occurs sometimes.
