Placing Photoshop PMS image into Illustrator
Spot Color Projects
PHOTOSHOP:
1. Open image (preferably at high resolution, CMYK)
2. Convert image to Image>Mode>Grayscale
3. Convert to Image>Mode>Duotone (Mono, Duo, Tri, Quad).
4. Convert to Image>Mode>Multichannel
- image turns to 'grayscale' and Channels shows PMS profile.
5. Save As... Photoshop DCS 2.0 (*EPS) format.
- select TIFF preview (8 bits/pixel), Single File DCS,
No Composite, check Include Halftone Screen.
ILLUSTRATOR:
Assuming you've already selected PMS colors,
you'll want to make sure they are the same as
the Photoshop PMS colors.
1. Place your EPS file.
- you'll notice that the PMS spot color shows up
in the Swatch palette.
2. You may use that PMS swatch to fill/outline your
elements, so that all similar colors show up on
one seperation plate.
