Here's the setup.

Awards show. Format is below:

Pre-Opening - (a 30 minute or so "screensaver" show that's linear, playing
before everyone sits down, let's say, from 7:30 to 8:00 or maybe a minute
early.)

Opening - (Maybe a minute or two. A "wow 'em" opening sort of highlighting
some of the stuff that'll get awards that night, video, still images,
animated text, etc...) Linear as well, audio track, or two (maybe some
narration).

A Series of Awards - An entire "Category" will receive an award at once.
Each "Category" will consist of several Sub-Categories, that will have
bulleted sub-categories under that one.

For Instance, a Category might be "Magazines". Under "Magazine" would be,
say, "Local" and under that would be "Color" and "Black and White" and "Pro
Bono" So, Color could have "Bronze, Silver, and Gold".

It's all very hierarchical which makes me think of doing it like this:

A Color, Local, Magazine will have the overall look of the rest of the
Magazine sub categories, so I'd create a movie containing the essential cast
members for that category "Magazines", then create a movie for each
individual awards (Color Bronze as a movie, Color Silver as a Movie, Color
Gold as a Movie) And create a movie called "Magazines" that would call each
award movie (MIAW) that would in turn be called by the "Master
Presentation". Sort of a Movie calling a movie, calling the movies it needs
to display the awards. I figure this will allow me to compartmentalize the
whole creative process allowing easy editing (just go in an edit a simple,
linear award, the change would show up once the master presentation is run)
and have a "Master Presentation" doing things like "Load and play the Pre
Opening" "Load and play the Opening" "Load and play the Magazine Awards".

Please tell me that makes sense. I hope I'm approaching the beginning
architecture the best way.
