    Amen.

Neat Image is the way to go. There is a learning curve, but once you learn
to use it, it will be your friend and save your butt. Although the review
below says there isn't a plugin for PS, there is a plugin available now.

    Good luck,
    Steven

For ISO 1600, I often (depending on the shot) do a 'dust & scratch
removal'[0] in Photoshop before reducing my photo to the final size
(most of my photo's are for my website). Add a little Gaussian blurring,
& the noise is pretty much invisible when I reduce to web-size.

As recommended by the reply from the other poster, Neatimage does a fair
sort of job at noise removal, & you can use the limited trial version
    for free.

[0] This filter has the advantage of working in 16 bit mode, unlike the
    'standard' PS noise removal filter.

Another vote for NeatImage here. It's an amazing piece of software.

    Hi

Neatimage worked, but unsharpens a picture too much.
