Please help (xp home to pro upgrade and nt4 domain)
Info:
Have a home pc (xp home) that had a firewall client
installed on it. Owner wants to connect to domain but
can't. Upgraded xp home to xp pro (firewall client still
probably installed during upgrade). Had the person bring
the pc into the office to trouble shoot firewall
connection. I uninstalled the firewall client and ran
ipsec -u at the start - run option. Tried to connect the
xp pro machine to an nt 4.0 domain but it doesn't see my
domain. The error i'm getting is:
The domain name x might be a netbios domain name. If this
is the case, verify that the domain name is properly
registered with WINS.
If you are certain that the domain name is not netbios
domain name then the following information can help you
trouble shoot your dns.
Error: DNS name does not exist
error code: 0x0000232B rcode_name_error
I don't have an internal dns server I do however have a
wins server. The pdc shows up in WINS as the domain name.
Any help you can provide or any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
