Default Plug-in failures ( 'Accessibility' and 'SaveAsRTF' )

I have been receiving error popup messages for several weeks now, whenever I attempt to download a PDF document from a variety of URLs. These two messages are basically the same, stating "There was an error while loading the plug-in 'Accessibility'. The plug-in failed to initialize." The 2nd message stating the 'SaveAsRTF' is basically the same.

I am using Acrobat Professional 6.0 (from within the Creative Suite). I've trashed the original version and reloaded just the Acrobat Professional and still get the same results.

I operate a G5 Power Mac, using OS 10.4.8 and have approx. 4 GB of RAM on the Mac.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance anyone can offer. Thanks ahead of time for your assistance and cooperation.

Is it really 6.0 or have you installed the patches to 6.0.5? I suggest that if you haven't patched up - you do so!

    Leonard,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have downloaded and installed each of the upgrade patches (through and including 6.0.5) and that didn't resolve the issue at all for me. In fact, I just attempted to download and see a couple more PDF files (simple maps) and am still getting a 'failed to load' response message.

Sorry. Any other suggestions or is it just that the newest Mac OS 10.4.8 won't allow me to use the version of Acrobat I have? I have a friend close by who is operating the same OS and doesn't seem to have this problem. I just am stumped?

Well, Acrobat 7 (and 8) are MORE compatible with 10.4.x than that older version you have. However, it should still work AFAIK.

IF you have 10.4.3 or later you'll be better off using Acrobat 8. Its justr come out and I expect Adobe has some type of upgraded deal. You may have to look for it though.

If you didn't remove the preferences for Acrobat when you removed the application, move them from <hard drive name>/Users/<your user>/Library/Preferences/Acrobat. Just delete all the files located there with Acrobat closed, and see if that fixes things.

am having the same issue. I was originally having an issue with distiller that i constantly have, so i decided to upgrade to 605, and upon doing so it worked for a couple of days and now i receive 4 pops regarding plugs that didnt work. The interesting thing is that the machine was also updated to 10.4.8. Prior to this, it was on 10.4.7. I am going to re-image my machine and start over. Going to do the 605 update before 1048. we shall see the result.
