PNG_Problems - Adobe Illustrator Windows

I'm creating a webpage in Illustrator CS2 and want to use transparancy for the borders which i am going to use. When i want to save for the web i choose the png24-format, as gif's are looking too rough, particularly when using a drop shadow. The preview in the Save For The Web window is fine, but when i preview the doent in IE 6.0 it shows a light-blue-ish background! How is this possible? I tried it a couple of times with different colour setting from Adobe Bridge but the problem remains. I even used a web-safe colour pallette and checked if doent color mode is set to rgb, which it was. Also previewed it with FireFox and Safari. Same problem. What am i doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

    Marc,

How are your Transparency and Matte settings? Also, have you ticked Anti-Alias when trying to GIF?

I don't want to use Matte, the background image, which i define is the css-style, will change. It won't be black or white but sometimes gradient or a even a pattern. That's why i need de drop-shadow to be tranparant. Anti-Alias is ticked, though.

    Marc,

I don't want to use Matte,

    Good, and Transparency is ticked?

    Anti-Alias is ticked, though.

Are you sure it was when you tried to create the GIF?

    Marc,

IE does not support transparency in 24-bit PNGs natively. You must code
the page to load the Active-X control AlphaImageLoader details of which
    you will find at:
