POP-UPs adverts with Contribute 3.1
I keep getting pop-up adverts when I start Contribute 3.1. These are not
'Flash' or Macromedia related pop-ups
as suggested in the 'Macromedia Support' section FAQ.
They are agressive marketing pop-ups, manifesting themeselves on the IE
browser (v6) which I do not use - as i normally
stick to Filrefox.
The latest manifestations came from http://z1.adserver.com/ (about some
Registry cleaner) and also
from http://www.rednova.com/.
I would expect this kind of underhand advertising from less reputable software
companies - but Macromedia?
This is software I paid for, not downloaded for free from Tucows!
Anyone have similar experiences. Anyfound found some solutions yet?
Thanks

Nothing to do with Macromedia. You have some spyware

Always possible to contact Macromedia with a support ticket for serious
problems for any software not downloaded for free.
In this case there is no need.

If it was sypware, they would jump up at me all the time, not only when
I fire-up Macromedia. (I use IExplorer to update my system - these
same adware do not crop up then. )
I would not make the assertion that it is Macromedia related if
I was not 99% sure.
Thanks for your feedback in any case.

Kes,
It still looks like a browser hijack.
I had one that *only* showed when I used Interakt's QUB.
good luck with getting rid of it

OK lawrie, I note your conclusion. However the logic>It still looks like a browser hijack.
of it still escapes me - how can my browser be hi-jacked
when I am not browsing (especially with Internet Explorer)?
I turm my PC on, I fire-up
my Contribute, I log into my (client's) web site, I add
an item or two of news and an IE window appears to
sell me something. (My default browser is Firefox)
I'll keep on tracking this behaviour and maybe ...

Head for spybot, install, and run: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
Then head for trend micro and run their remote scan
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
I don't think macromedia is to blame here. Good luck. Dastards.
