Default pop ups and site nav

I am considering using links in my site that open up in a separate browser
(pop ups) these will be positioned. I understand that people use software to
disable pop ups, Are these for "unload" ones not the ones I will
    use(target="_blank")?

Also can any one point me to a site that uses great navigation to level
4,5,6, without losing the links back 6,5,4,3,2,1?

e.g If you were in aboutus>our company>mission>policy>longterm... withour
using breadcrumbs you could get to policy from long term etc.

    Hope this makes sense

    Thankx
