    Default popup layering

    Hi there

I wanted to important a fireworks popup into a frame in Dreamweaver but when the popup opens it is obscured by the neighbouring frame. Is there a way of forcing the popup to be at the front when it opens

    Thanks anybody in advance

    Default Re: popup layering

Pop-ups do not cross over frames. My suggestion is that you adjust the
frame borders to accommodate the drop down, or redesign without frames.

It's not at all satisfactory, Darrel. That's why I never suggest it.

    I agree. :-)

There is an extension out there for Dreamweaver that let's you target
multiple Frames for your popup menu, but it doesn't work nor is create
for - Fireworks. Search with Google and you should be able to find it.

It should already layer it to the top, try exporting it again and see what happens. If it doesn't change, then delete the pop-up and add it again, and don't add anything elso on top of it. I always do my popups last, and it might just be keepin it in that layer.

    8Ball:

Darrel and Linda were correct. There is not a practical way to make a layer
    span a frame's boundary.

The best solutions to this particular problem are -

It is true. Your choices are limited now -

    1. DUMP THE FRAMES - you would not be having this problem in a non-framed
    site.
    2. Redesign your menus so that they do not need to span a frame boundary.
    3. Redesign the frameset so that you leave enough room for the largest
    popup.
    4. Move the layer code for the popups from the page in the navigation frame
to each page in the content frame.
    5. DUMP THE FRAMES - you would not be having this problem in a non-framed
    site.

I recommend either #1 or #5, depending on what your needs are. You just
have no idea the horrors that await you if you continue with the frames.....

    Sure you did! 8)

It can be done. It is not practical. That's the point.

And for the people asking the question it goes way beyond impractical,
    approaching something close to impossible.
