popup menu position: browser inconsistencies
I am using Show/Hide Popup Menu function in Dreamweaver. I see that the
position of the menu is not consistent across different browsers, as tested in
Mac I.E., Firefox, and Safari. If position values are set for desired position
as viewed in I.E., menus will position considerably up and a little left of
that in Firefox and Safari, which are about the same. Positioning in Windows
I.E. is most like that of Mac Firefox and Safari. (I haven't tested other
Windows browsers.)
Is there a way to resolve this inconsistency?

Re: popup menu position: browser inconsistencies
There are two excellent ways -
1. Don't use these pop-up menus
2. Consider some other method of creating pop-up menus
The built-in pop-up menus in DW are just terribly flawed. There are much
better ways.
Can you post a link to your page?

Re: popup menu position: browser inconsistencies
Murray, here is a link to the test server and to a page that shows the problem
best: http://www.fallschurchanimalhospital.com/demo3/mission.htm
I'm not the one uploading to this server, and actually this isn't the most
recent version of my files. Depending on the browser, what you will may see is
that the popups ("dropdowns," whatever) are positioning too high and obscuring
the main menu bar. That's because they were positioned for Mac I.E. In a more
recent version, I have positioned for Safari and Firefox, which (as far as I
can tell) is also consistent for Windows I.E. Other problems remain: the
excessive width of the menu cells.
If it's best to recreate these in a different way, I will appreciate your
directing me to sources of info. Or, suggest alternative strategies for this
type of navigation, considering the content you see here. Thanks!

Re: popup menu position: browser inconsistencies
I'm not seeing any obvious reason for why those submenu layers are not
appearing consistently in IE5/Mac and all the rest of the world of browsers.
If you want to get rid of them entirely, I suggest you look at the tutorials
and the products offered at -

http://www.fourlevel.com
I use PVII methods/products on nearly every site I build and am completely
satisfied with them.
