# Position of Sun

Position of Sun
Hi

I need some help to work out the position of the sun at a given time.

I take photographs of Railways and wanted to know if there is a simple way
of calculating where the sun will be at a given time in relation the the
direction of a rail line.

Many, many years ago as a Boy Scout I was taught that if you pointed the
hour hand of a watch at the sun, south was half way between the hour hand
and 12 on the watch dial. This is not precise, but would seem to be close
