    Default postcard template

    Hello all,

I have designed a postcard in illustrator that I need to insert a photo into. I used a 4x6 inch template for the postcard and bleed marks are already marked on the template. The photo was edited in photoshop. What is the best way to go about in getting this photo into the postcard. Is there a way to export the photo with a transparent background into illustrator? or should I export the file from illustrator to photoshop? thing with that is, how would i keep the bleed marks intact?, seeing as how this has to go to print.

    thank you

Save the file as a PSD (Photoshop's native format) and place it in Illustrator. Use a rectangle to amsk the photo to the size of the postcard.

    Joe,

What version of Illustrator? If 9,10 or CS then Scott's reply applies. If a
previous version you will need to create a clipping path and Save As EPS or
create a clipping mask in Illustrator.
