Postscript file from quark crashes distiller 7.0.2 at 100%...
A postscript file from quark (6.1, or 6.5) has been generated by using the print command and saving the file as a .ps file. (as detailed here: <http://www.certitec.com/quark%206%20postscript.htm)>
If i bring it into distiller 7.0, it will crash after the 100% progress if i use the default 'press settings', but will work properly if i use the pdf/x-1a setting.
I get the same result on different machines, distilling different files. All machines are macs, g4s & g5s, tiger and panther.
suggestions?

OK greg - not wanting to avoid the issue - why would you want to use the
PRESS setting? Not only does it use horrible FormsXObjects under the OPI
commands in the DSC comments - but it does not accredit the PDF.
PDF/X-1a:2001 is a good way to go.

Re: Postscript file from quark crashes distiller 7.0.2 at 100%...
ok - i am using the press etting because it is there and called 'press'. i assumed it was a good preset for the press. The reason i was not wanting the pdf-x varient was because i did not want an 'x' technacality to stop me from producing an otherwise valid pdf (ie, lack of bleed on an ad that may not need a bleed halting the pdf process.)
But back to the issue, any idea why one would work and the other would crash consistently?
