I download ps files from the web using Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP pro. This

previously worked very well. My default viewer - GhostView - would pick up the

extension and open the file or allow it to be saved straight away.

I recently installed Adobe Illustrator 11. This has now highjacked the extension in

some way despite Window OS stating that the .ps extension is associated with GhostView.

When I click on the web link to a ps file I always receive a dialog saying File

Download

File: name.ps
File Type: Adobe Illustrator Artwork 11.0
....
This could be harmfull etc.

I select open.

The system then proceeds for some time to start up Adobe Illustrator, which I have not

asked for. After the jugernaught has finished doing whatever it is trying to do

Ghostview eventually opens the file.

The dialog has a check box 'Always ask this question before opening files of this type'

However, the box is always grayed out even when logged on as a local administrator.

How can I stop Adobe Illustrator generating this dialog with IE6. I do not want to

open ps files with Illustrator as it is impratical as it is far to slow. I want

Ghostscript as default. When I view Files and settings Ghostview is listed as the

default program to open ps files. in fact Adobe Illustrator is not present.

Thanks for any help
