I own a PCP 240 running 9.1 with no problems. Unless you're planning to
run X, there is no really good reason to run 9.2.2. Further, running X on
an unaccelerated 604 processor isn't worth the effort.
As to exactly what the problem is, I don't know. From personal experience
I know that Apple changed a number of fundamental system goodies between
9.1 and 9.2.x. A number of useful, but very old apps run fine in 9.1 but
break in 9.2.2.
So my advice is to go back to 9.1.
