ppp log?

Look in /var/log/ppp. I don't run ppp so I can't say for certain, but
the log files may have access restriction and you may have to use sudo
to read them.

but /var/log/ppp seems to be an empty folder:

I don't use ppp, I use a Sagem USB ADSL modem which is supposedly "ppp0" and
connects automatically with routed vcmux.

Thanks. I should have made clear that the modem I use is just like a bridge
and there is no real ppp connection, it's simply DHCP.
