pre-load images (Yes or No)? - Macromedia Dreamweaver

Hi there, I just wondered what the benefits of preloading images really are! I can understand it for menu items but for general images surely it would be better for the content to load first if some of the images are heavy instead of waiting for the page to load with everything as this will delay things. What say you?...

    Hi Bill

I'd agree with that, the menu roll overs are a must, the rest can load
    as the page comes down.

    Bill:

If you think about it, it's actually an interesting thing. DMX puts its
preload in the body tag with an event of onLoad. So, that means the the
preload only triggers after the page has loaded. So ... err ... the page
loads completely first, and then ... umm ... the pre ... well.

    I dunno.....
