    Default Preflight -- Unknown Error

I've installed Acrobat 7 Professional on a G5 and both Acrobat and Distiller open up and perform most of their functionality. However, when I try to use Acrobat's Preflight capability (selecting PDF/X-1a:2001) it generates an Unknown Error.

I've done a search of the forum and read about a bug involving G5's with 4 or 8 GB of RAM loaded -- however, this machine only as half a gig of RAM.

I've chmod the Acrobat framework to 777 thinking it might be a permissions thing. I've upgraded it to 7.08. I'm kind of out of ideas.

Anyone run into this and successfully resolve the problem?

    Jonathan,

What happens if you select preflight and EDIT under the ADVANCED area
and then create your own profile which incorporates the PDF/X conversion
(plus any custom ones you might wish to append such as image resolution
    checks?)

I seem to remember a problem here in the past which *might* be corrected
in Acrobat 8 (confirmation if possible) ...

    Cheers!

    Hi Jonathan

1/2 a Gig of Ram brings up the same error. Try adding memory.
