    Default Preview creation

    I noticed that with smaller files, 200KB or so, a preview is automatically created, whereas with larger files, 600 KB or more, no preview is created.

    Is there a magic number size and can this be user define?

    [Acrobat Pro 9 on MacOS 10.4.11]

    Thanks;

    What kind of preview are you talking about. Where are you seeing it?

    Hi Steve;

    The preview is the image that appears in the Finder when the pdf is selected; it can also be seen in the Info window of the file (again in the Finder) under, well, Preview. It also appears when the pdf is inserted/attached in text and e-mail documents.

    I hope this describes it.

    I'm working in Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.5). I see previews for all PDF files. I have a great number that are 10 - 50 Mb and all show previews in Icon mode in the Finder and using QuickLook technology as well as using Preview. They also preview when I drag the into a Mail message, for example.

    This is the confusing part. I too have been creating PDFs of all sizes from InDesign (and Quark and PageMaker before that) for years.

    Since the recent switch to CS3 and Adobe Acrobat 9, it has been a bit hit and miss regarding the preview. The files without previews show a blank in the Preview box of the Info box in Finder.

    That's why I was wondering if I was missing something.
