Default preview font in character palette

A while back (quite a while back), someone here gave a keystroke combination (for AI10) to be used with the up/down arrows that would scroll through the list of fonts in the Character palette and allow you to preview fonts with selected text. As I recall the trick worked in Win but not Mac (I tried).

Am I hallucinating or recalling correctly everything but the magic keystroke combination?

    Thanks,

While we're at it, we can thank Bert for reminding us to work backwards from Z. The preview list in Type>Font is a big help, but the Shift+arrow+Enter is the real winner. I'm still waiting to get my Mac OS10 and can't wait to find out if it works on a Mac now. It didn't work on OS9 with AI10.

Sorry, Toni, it doesn't work in AI 10.0.3 running on OS X 10.3.4. In the Mac interface, the typeface selection box in the character palette is not a dropdown as it is in Win. (Instead, you hit a separate button to access a flyout menu.) There was no obvious way I could get this to work.
